APR have regained the top position in the Rwanda Premier League table with a 3-0 thrashing victory over struggling Marines on Wednesday evening at Kigali Pele Stadium.

It was goals from Denis Omedi, Hakim Kiwanuka, and in-form Djibril Ouattara that fired Darko Novic's side to this important win.

Omedi scored a wonderful freekick in the 19th minute to open the scoring after Gilbert Mugisha was fouled by Kennedy Hoziyana.

Djibril Ouattara doubled the lead for the home team in the 45th minute with a clever finish following Jean Gilbert Byiringiro's delivery as Darko Novic's men took a 2-0 advantage to the break.

The Burkinabe striker registered his eighth league goal in 11 matches he played since joining in January 2025.

Omedi was in the right place at the right time in the 67th minute when he nodded the ball into the bottom corner of the net after Ramadhan Niyibizi's corner kick.

APR have now scored 11 goals in their past four games without conceding. They sit at the top of the league with 55 points from 26 games, two points ahead of their bitter rival Rayon Sports, who have a game in hand.

With the defeat, Marines stayed in the relegation with 27 points after 26 matches, having won only once in their previous seven games.

"Our final four matches must be like this, and perform like we did today. Today it was so difficult especially because it's only three days after Rayon – in the Peace Cup final – and when you play such kind of matches, players are empty emotionally, but at the end we won 3-0 which is the most important," says APR coach Darko Novic.
