Kiyovu Sports chalked up a thrashing 10-0 victory over Yellow Stars in a first-leg tie of the Rwanda Peace Cup preliminary round on Tuesday afternoon.
Held at Kigali Pele Stadium, Kiyovu had utter dominance throughout the entire match. Malick Wade's side took a 5-0 lead at the halftime break and doubled it in the second half for a 10-0 win.
Pacifique Dufitimana and David Byiringiro hit a brace. Djuma Nizeyimana, Olivier Twahirwa, Desire Mugisha, Kevin Ishimwe, Cedric Mugenzi, and Darcy Mutunzi were also on target to guarantee that Kiyovu comprehensively defeated the Gikomero-based team.
Kiyovu Sports suffered an early exit from Peace Cup last season as they were eliminated by Gorilla in the round of 16 on away goals after both sides tied 3-3 overall.
The Mumena-based side seem to be on the mend after a disastrous start to the season. They have now snatched back-to-back wins in all competitions, having edged Etincelles 2-1 on 22 November in Rwanda Premier League.
The preliminary round's second leg is due on 17 December.
